Mini Golf Tournament Raised $25K for Homeless Youth Center

On March 4, Port in the Storm Homeless Youth Center held its 5th Annual Swing Into Action Miniature Golf Tournament sponsored by RockIT Solutions and 1st Edge Technologies, LLC.

A total 144 golfers enjoyed a cool, beautiful day as they played in a tournament-style miniature golf event at Fiesta Falls Mini Golf; 72 in the morning and 72 in the afternoon.

The event raised more than $25,000 for the homeless youth at Port in the Storm.

Scott Rock of RockIT Solutions served as emcee and DJ for the day.

Prizes were awarded for Round One Champion, Round Two Champion, Grand Champion as well as Best Dressed Team and Most Team Spirit for each round.

The tournament Grand Champion, taking home the huge trophy and bragging rights for a year, was Southern Title.

The mayor of St Augustine Beach, Dylan Rumrell, and Judith Dembowski, executive director of Port in the Storm, gave brief remarks, and congratulated winning teams.

Use of the Fiesta Falls course was donated by Rich O’Brien and Lauren Ringhaver, local business owners and longtime advocates for the needs of those facing homelessness.

Other sponsors included: Localiq/The Record, MasterCraft Builders, Clukey & Tebault, UF Health St. Johns, Hyundai of St Augustine, Silver Feather Jewelry & Gifts, Paradise Title, Ancient City Accounting, bestbet Poker, Kaiser Deli & Market, Builders Stainless and R. Dean Scott Architect. In addition, local businesses sponsored all 18 holes.

St. Francis House and Port in the Storm Homeless Youth Center provide the only comprehensive housing-crisis services and shelter in St. Johns County. Housing-focused programs provide support, referrals and assistance to facilitate the return to housing and self-sufficiency for individuals, families and youth.
