In light of recent news concerning the homeless community of downtown Jacksonville, Mission House Inc. has announced that it stands in solidarity with people experiencing homelessness.
“We anticipate that the need for our programs and services will only increase throughout 2021, as we continue to work our way through the COVID-19 public health crisis, and this continued community support will be the difference in whether we are able to help individuals in their struggle to end their homelessness,” said Mission House Associate Director Michaele Bradford.
The experience of homelessness has been exacerbated by the rapid spread of COVID-19 and rising unemployment levels. Those experiencing homelessness have many additional barriers to rebuilding their lives. Many are veterans, struggle with addiction, or are part of an historically marginalized group.
This is a critical time for nonprofit organizations, especially those like Mission House, that are serving an ever-increasing population. The nonprofit’s officials say they need additional support from the Jacksonville community to better meet the needs of their clients.
“Mission House is the only homeless services agency in the Jacksonville Beaches area, and as such, we work very hard to meet the needs of adults experiencing homelessness who find their way to us from downtown Jacksonville,” said Bradford.
Mission House is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that has been serving the homeless community of Jacksonville Beach since 1997. Its mission is to empower those affected by homelessness in the Beaches area by providing food, clothing, medical care and support services with an avenue to self-sufficiency.
It addresses basic needs through its Crisis Care, Rapid Re-Housing, Outreach, Workforce Development and Mission House Clinic programs.
Mission House is seeking donations to continue these programs and services to the homeless community of Jacksonville Beach.
