The Municipal Service District (MSD) of Ponte Vedra Beach held its monthly meeting at Christ Church on Monday, Aug. 10.
Kim Odom, the branch manager at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library, spoke about some updates from the library. The Children’s Cove at the library is now fully open after being closed for renovations. Odom called the space beautiful and engaging and said library patrons will enjoy not only reading but also games and interactive materials.
There are also several upcoming family events at the library including a Benjamin Franklin impersonator and a family patriotic sing-a-long.
“We hope that everyone will come to check out books and also spend some social time with us,” said Odom.
Trustee Mickey White gave some updates regarding the FDOT improvements to State Road A1A. White sits on the Community Traffic Task Force (CTTF), and he said he believed there was a lot of confusion among residents following the FDOT meeting on June 23.
In an effort to help the community understand the changes, White said that CTTF had put out an educational summary, which made things clearer. County Commissioner Krista Joseph then sent out a notice with the approved steps agreed upon by the state and the county.
These steps included addressing the J. Turner Butler Boulevard exit on Marsh Landing Parkway with a roundabout, adding offset lefts, upgrading the TPC intersection, protecting palm trees, keeping the blinking light at Fairfield as is and not implanting U-turns. FDOT is also looking at alternatives to the U-turn at Solana Road.
