The St. Johns County Public Library System is enhancing its customer experiences with a new online catalog to offer the public access to more than 300,000 books, magazines and other library services.

The library is migrating to a new, more user-friendly, modern browsing experience that makes it easier to find library materials. The new catalog offers personalization features and search tools designed to help patrons more easily discover what the library offers.

“We are so thrilled to launch a new, user-friendly catalog that gives patrons more control over their library experience,” said library director Debra Rhodes Gibson. “The catalog looks great and makes discovering library materials so much easier with its interactive design. We continually strive to bring accessible and engaging services to our community, and we think this catalog checks those boxes. We invite everyone to explore the site and take advantage everything the St. Johns County Public Library System has to offer.”

Some of the new online features offer enhanced account control for library patrons. This includes an option to opt in to track reading history, extensive options to filter searches and the ability to create lists, save favorite searches and link multiple library cards to one account allowing families to easily manage their checkouts and holds.

In 2023, the library system’s six branch locations and bookmobile circulated more than 1.1 million physical items and electronically circulated another 390,000 items to patrons. Jae Bass, manager of support services, said, “We began the process of upgrading to the Aspen Discovery catalog platform back in August 2023. We are so proud of this new catalog and are excited for everyone to start exploring and discovering all that it has to offer.”

The library system has plans to announce more technology upgrades later in 2024 to improve mobile accessibility to its services and programs. To learn more about the St. Johns County Public Library System, go to sjcpls.org.
