‘Real FBI’ topic of writers’ meeting

Following a 30-year career with the FBI — 25 of those as an intelligence analyst mainly with the Jacksonville Field Office — Gwen Goodrich came away with valuable institutional knowledge. She will share details about the organization’s history and changes at the Ponte Vedra Writers meeting on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

Speaking on “The Real FBI: Behind the Scenes,” Goodrich will discuss the changes 9/11 brought to the FBI, and her experiences dealing with those traumatic events and others helping agents understand, mitigate and neutralize threats. During her years as an analyst, she acted as a liaison with other federal, state and local law enforcement partners. She’s still working in law enforcement, now as a fusion center analyst for the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Writers of mysteries, thrillers and police procedurals will find this presentation both instructive and entertaining.

The Ponte Vedra Writers group is affiliated with the Florida Writers Association, a statewide membership organization dedicated to the support of both aspiring and published writers in any genre. The Aug. 22 meeting is free and open to members and nonmembers alike.
