Candidate qualifying begins June 8

The St. Johns County Supervisor of Elections Office has announced that candidate qualifying for local offices for the 2026 election cycle will begin at noon on Monday, June 8.

Candidates seeking to qualify for county, municipal, special district and community development district offices have been able to submit paperwork to the St. Johns County Supervisor of Elections Office since Tuesday, May 26. All required qualifying documents and filing fees must be submitted during the official qualifying period in accordance with Florida Election Law.

The qualifying period will close at noon on Friday, June 12.

Candidates are encouraged to ensure all paperwork is complete and statutory requirements have been met. A list of local offices up for election, qualifying forms and fees, candidate information and election resources are available online at www.votesjc.gov.

For additional information, candidates and voters may contact the Supervisor of Elections Office at 904-823-2238 during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

St. Johns County to auction surplus goods

St. Johns County will auction its surplus goods to the public on Saturday, June 20, at 2416 Dobbs Road, St. Augustine. Early preview will take place on Friday, June 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the same location.

The auction day preview will take place on Saturday, June 20, beginning at 7 a.m., with the auction officially beginning at 9 a.m. To view a list of items up for auction and requirements to bid, go to https://geauction.com/st-johns-co-surplus-auctions.

Every item will sell to the highest bidder. There are no reserves or minimums. The auction is free to attend and open to the public.

A county surplus auction is held once or twice a year to sell items approved by the Board of County Commissioners to the highest bidder. The county currently has a contract with Great Expectations Auction, Estate Services, and Realty to perform these auctions. The revenue generated from the auction goes back into the county’s General Fund.
