Free cooking demo planned
A free Mediterranean Diet cooking demo will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at St. Francis in-the-Field Church's Parish Hall, 895 Palm Valley Road, just down from Palm Valley Golf Course. Farmers market open every Friday

Mass arrest of rabbis to be commemorated
The 13th annual commemoration of the largest mass arrest of rabbis in U.S. history will take place at noon Thursday, June 18, at the St. Johns County Jail Annex, 4025 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine. This 45-minute event sponsored by the St. Augustine Jewish Historical Society, is free, open to the public, and all are welcome. No advance arrangements are necessary. Ample parking is available.
On June 18, 1964, 16 rabbis and a Reform Jewish administrator, in St. Augustine at the request of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., were arrested and held in what is now the St. Johns County Jail Annex. Overnight, they wrote a letter titled “Why We Went to St. Augustine” that will be read as part of the commemoration.
