Nocatee ‘Turkey Trot’ raises $3,000 for St. Johns CARES

The third annual Psych Ed Connections Turkey Trot & Parade held on Thanksgiving has raised $3,000 for St. Johns CARES.

Dr. Abigail Levrini, the owner of Nocatee-based Psych Ed Connections, made the donation official last week when she presented a check to St. Johns CARES President Mary Ann Kriniske. The nonprofit organization is committed to helping other local nonprofit organizations in St Johns County through donations and time.

Proceeds from the Turkey Trot & Parade will be used to support the annual Giving Tree Initiative and college scholarships for graduating senior students in the ASSIST (Aid and Support for Students in Sudden Transition) program.

The Giving Tree Initiative is wrapping up for this year. Each year, wishes are collected from 40 charities in the county serving seniors, veterans, homeless, abused, medical, children and animals. These wishes are placed on paper ornaments and displayed in 67 businesses, libraries and community groups that serve as host donor sites in November. In early December, the donations from the community are collected, sorted and distributed to the charities to help continue their good work.
