The following programs will be held at COA’s THE PLAYERS Community Senior Center, 175 Landrum Lane, Ponte Vedra Beach, beginning in October. Most activities are weekly and will begin Oct. 1. - Lunch — Tuesdays: Four weeks starting Tuesday, Oct. 7, from noon to 1 p.m. Registration is required a week in advance and the required fee is $5 per meal due upon arrival.
- Lunch — Thursdays: Five weeks starting Thursday, Oct. 2, from noon to 1 p.m. Registration is required a week in advance and the required fee is $5 per meal due upon arrival.
- Duplicate Bridge: Five weeks on Fridays, starting noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 3. Required fee is $2 per person, per Friday. You must have a partner and experience to play.
- Tap Dance Class: Instructor Ginny Wirzbicki brings much experience to this style of dance and encourages all levels to participate or learn. Five weeks on Fridays, starting Oct. 3 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Fee required is $6.25 per class or $25 per month (includes months with five weeks).
- Hisshin Sumi-e Painting Class: Traditional East Asian brush painting. This class meets the second Thursday of every month (Oct. 9) from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fee required is $3 per person.
- Open Painting: Five weeks on Wednesdays, starting Oct. 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. No fee required; Bring your own supplies. Instructor Sarah Good onsite Oct 8.
- Chair Exercise — Tuesdays: Four weeks starting Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 9:30 to 10 a.m.
- Chair Exercise — Thursdays: Five weeks starting Thursday, Oct. 2 from 9:30 to 10 a.m.
- Canasta — Tuesdays: Four weeks starting Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to noon

- Mexican Train Dominoes: Four weeks on Tuesdays, starting Oct. 7 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
- Free Blood Pressure Check with Diane DeCarlo: 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30
- Bingo — Tuesdays: Four weeks starting 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7. Fee is $1 per card
- Bingo — Thursdays: Five weeks starting 1-2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2. Fee is $1 per card
- Social Bridge: Five weeks on Wednesdays, starting Oct. 1 from 9:30 a.m. to noon
- Let’s Play Board Games: Rummikub, Scrabble, Yahtzee, cards and more! Enjoy socializing and making new friends while participating in some friendly competition; five weeks on Wednesdays, starting Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to noon
- Individual Rotation Duplicate Bridge (Experienced): Five weeks on Wednesdays, starting Oct. 1 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Required fee is $2 per person.
- Wii Bowling: Five weeks on Thursdays, starting 10-11 a.m. Oct. 2
- Computer Room: Available Tuesdays through Fridays during open hours; general assistance available
- Ballroom Basics: Join volunteer Scott Adkins who will show you the basic steps of ballroom dance (waltz, foxtrot, rumba). No partner is needed; however, comfortable shoes are a must (leather soles are best). Ballroom dance has been proven to be one of the best activities to promote brain health! Five weeks on Fridays, starting Oct. 3 from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
- Chair Resistance Exercise: Exercise enthusiast and physical therapist Michelle Gorr shares her 34 years of experience with a technique that will help people gain strength as they age. 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, Oct. 2.
- Birthday Party with Lou Parisi: Lou’s visiting from New Jersey and will sing “Happy Birthday” to those celebrating their special day this month! Enjoy cake and dancing on Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 11 a.m. to noon
- “Autumn Bingo”: Denise Bolton with Discovery Commons joins us for a special fall edition of everyone’s favorite game! Join everyone for an hour of prize-winning fun on Thursday, Oct. 9, from 11 a.m. to noon
- Monthly Craft: This month participants are making “3D Paper Pumpkins”! These simple-yet-versatile decorations can be displayed for autumn, Halloween and Thanksgiving. 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14
- “Alaskan Adventures”: COA volunteer Harry LeBoeuf is back with tales from Alaska! See the beauty of and hear about this magnificent state, plus learn practical travel tips on Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 11 a.m. to noon
- Bus Trip (Advance Reservation Required): It’s time for the “Boat Cruise” on the Matanzas River! Those who have secured a reservation should be at THE PLAYERS senior center no later than 9:15 a.m. Lunch will be served onboard the boat, and participants will be back by the end of bingo. Thursday, Oct. 16, from 9:15 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Halloween Costume Party: Come join the party with Rockin’ Rod Mathews for a ghoulishly good time and “Get Your Spook On” for a chance to win a prize for best costume. Tuesday, Oct. 21, from 10:30 a.m. to noon
- “Tax Preparation Tips”: Sharon Hunziker of Beachside Tax Service will provide members with helpful tips for preparing for the upcoming tax season. Thursday, Oct. 23, from 11 a.m. to noon
- Fall Craft with Carmen: Hosted by Silver Treasures Senior Living, Carmen Carrera is back to bring more autumn creativity to our center! Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 11 a.m. to noon
- St. Johns County Legal Aid: “Should You Ever Put Someone Else’s Name on Your Deed?” will be presented by Megan Wall, managing attorney for St. Johns County Legal Aid. Thursday, Oct. 30, from 11 a.m. to noon
