Psychology professor to be Coastal Friends speaker

Coastal Friends will present guest speaker Dr. Tracy Alloway, a nationally known, award-winning professor of psychology at University of North Florida, at the April 5 luncheon. The luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Marsh Landing Country Club, 25655 Marsh Landing Parkway, Ponte Vedra Beach.

Alloway will address “The Five Senses of Memory to Help With The Aging Memory Process.”

Alloway has appeared on numerous national television programs, is a TEDx speaker and has published more than 15 books. She also participates on News4JAX, a local TV station, in a program every week to share her psychology expertise with the viewers.

The luncheon is open to the community, members and guests. The cost to attend is $25. Reservations must be made in advance to reserve a seat by contacting the luncheon chairman at bartshar@comcast.net as soon as possible. The deadline to sign up and get your check in is Friday morning, March 31. Lunch will consist of spinach salad, pan-seared salmon with beurre blanc with risotto and asparagus, and seasonal dessert of bread pudding with vanilla glaze.

Coastal Friends (formerly known as Newcomers Alumnae) is a social group of women who live in Ponte Vedra Beach, Nocatee, Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, St. Augustine, Neptune Beach, Atlantic Beach and the surrounding area. It was formed in 1988. Some of the activities offered are adventures and outings, book club, bunco, canasta and canasta lessons, happy hour, lunch in, lunch out, mahjongg and wine socials. Luncheons are held on the first Wednesday of every month except for July and August.  New members are welcome throughout the year.
