PV Sharks Mitey Mites play during Jaguars halftime

The Ponte Vedra Sharks Mitey Mites football team had the opportunity to play against Jacksonville Beach at EverBank Field during halftime at the recent Jaguars v. Ravens game, playing before the largest crowd they have ever seen. 

“It was a great experience for these 8- and 9-year-olds and their families,” parent Neil Gornto said.

Coaches and players met at Cornerstone Park in Ponte Vedra and rode a chartered bus to the stadium. The Sharks this season are 4-1 with three games remaining on their schedule. 

“We as coaches, parents, and friends could not be more proud of these boys,” Gornto said. “All these players bring something important, and have a great impact on this team.  We are one unit, one team built on sportsmanship, dedication, and most importantly the love of the game.”

 Players include Austin Agatep, Trevor Alexander, Talan Babin, Bennett Baumgartner, Chase Bogle, Nehemiah “Buz”" Bunkosky, Brian Case, James Cowan, Marco Cucci, Sean Doyle, Corbyn Fordham, Ryan Gornto, Emmett Grzebin, Sean Grzebin Jr., Mason Hauseman, Dawson Hill, Jordan Jarvis, Nicholas Nuualiitia, Wyatt Perry, Grant Sheppard and Jackson Soud. Coaches include Head Coach Todd Fordham and assistant coaches Steve Baumgartner, Alai Nuualiitia, Scott Bunkosky, Chad Hauseman and John Bogle. Team Mom is Ryan Sheppard.
