PVHS lacrosse dominates in Moe’s Classic matchup

The Ponte Vedra High School boys lacrosse team conitnued its defense of its state championship in domineering fashion with a 14-3 rout of Cardinal Mooney (Sarasota) in the annual Moe’s Classic on Feb. 29 at Jacksonville University.

The Sharks, who jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 5 minutes against the perennially top-10 ranked Cardinals, improved to 6-0 with the win. Freddie Amato scored five goals for PVHS, Joe Taraboletti added four goals and an assist and goalie Nolan Parlette finished with eight saves. Avi Israel and Andrew Ewalt combined to win 12 out of 17 faceoffs for the Sharks.

PVHS will next travel to the Baltimore/D.C. area to face two top 20 national-ranked teams. The Sharks will play Gilman School in Baltimore on Thursday, March 5, and Boys Latin of Maryland on Saturday, March 7. While there, the defending state champions will also take a tour of the White House.
