River City Theatre (RCT), a new nonprofit performing arts organization dedicated to “entertaining, engaging and empowering the Duval County area,” will present eight performances of the musical “Lionel Bart’s OLIVER!” in July.

RCT combines its productions with enriching educational programming and brings a fresh, innovative approach to theatrical storytelling. With a mission to create an artistic home for performers and audiences alike, RCT is dedicated to fostering an appreciation for the performing arts in Jacksonville and beyond.

“As RCT’s executive artistic director, I am committed to supporting the dreams of others who find joy and community through theatre,” said Stephen Billy. “It seems fitting that our inaugural show celebrates a timeless story of hope and resilience.”

Based on Charles Dickens’s classic novel, “Lionel Bart’s OLIVER!” means to provide an unforgettable evening for the entire family. This Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical features memorable songs such as “Consider Yourself” and “As Long As He Needs Me” and promises an extraordinary theatrical experience for audiences of all ages.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. July 17-20 and July 24-27 at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Betsy Lovett Hall, 1100 Stockton St., Jacksonville.

Tickets are available now at $25 per ticket and are selling quickly. For more information, ticket purchases, donations, sponsorship and volunteer opportunities, and details about RCT’s upcoming productions, go to www.rivercitytheatre.com. River City Theatre is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
