The teen arrested in the slaying of Tristyn Bailey, 13, on May 9 has filed a written plea of not guilty. The filing was made through his attorney, Assistant Public Defender Joshua Mosley, on Thursday, June 3.
Aiden Sean Fucci, 14, will be tried as an adult, according to court records.
Initially, Fucci was charged with second-degree murder after his May 10 arrest, but the charge was upgraded to first-degree murder after a grand jury hearing.
A felony arraignment has been scheduled for 9 a.m. June 10. A felony pretrial hearing is set for 9 a.m. July 28.
Bailey was reported missing by her family at about 10 p.m. May 9. Her body was discovered the next day near a retention pond east of the Saddlestone Drive cul-de-sac.
Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Predrag Bulic determined that the cause of death was sharp force trauma by stabbing. In a press conference May 27, 7th Circuit State Attorney R.J. Larizza said Bailey had sustained 114 stab wounds.
