THE PLAYERS Community Senior Center announces June schedule

The following programs will be held at COA’s THE PLAYERS Community Senior Center, 175 Landrum Lane, Ponte Vedra Beach, beginning in June. Most classes are five weeks long and begin the first week of June. If you have any questions or wish to register, call Suzanne Duvall at 904-209-3659.

Lunch — Tuesdays: Four weeks starting Tuesday, June 6; noon to 1 p.m. Registration required a week in advance and fee required — $5 per meal.

Lunch — Thursdays: Five weeks starting Thursday; June 1, noon to 1 p.m. Registration required a week in advance and fee required — $5 per meal.

Duplicate Bridge: Five weeks starting Friday, June 2; noon to 3 p.m. Fee required — $2 per person, per Friday.

Line Dancing Class: Four weeks starting Wednesday, June 7; 4-5:30 p.m. Instructor Will Oglesby teaches many different line dances with a good selection of music. Open to all adults and experience levels. Registration and fee required — $37.50 per month.

Tap Dance Class: Five weeks starting Friday, June 2; 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Instructor Ginny Wirzbicki brings much experience to this style of dance and encourages all different levels of dance to learn. Registration and fee required — $25 per month.

Hisshin Sumi-E Painting Class: Traditional East Asian Brush Painting. Only one week on Thursday, June 8; at 11:30 a.m. This class meets once a month. Fee required — $3 per person.

Acrylic Painting: Four weeks starting Wednesday, June 7; from 9 a.m. to noon. No fee required.

Caregiver Support Group (free program): 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 7. The group is open to all adult caregivers; it meets on the first Wednesday of each month. Register with the Alzheimer’s Association at 800-272-3900.

Chair Exercise — Tuesdays: Four weeks starting Tuesday, June 6; from 9:30 to 10 a.m.

Chair Exercise — Thursdays: Five weeks starting Thursday, June 1; from 9:30 to 10 a.m.

Tai Chi: Five weeks starting Thursday, June 1; 10-11 a.m.

Canasta — Tuesdays: Four weeks starting Tuesday, June 6; 10 a.m. to noon.  

Canasta — Thursdays: Five weeks starting Thursday, June 1; 10 a.m. to noon.

Mexican Train Dominoes: Four weeks starting Tuesday, June 6; 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Ask a Nurse: Four weeks starting Tuesday, June 6; 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Bingo — Tuesdays: Four weeks starting Tuesday, June 6; 1-2 p.m.

Bingo — Thursdays: Five weeks starting Thursday, June 1; 1-2 p.m.

Social Bridge: Four weeks starting Wednesday, June 7; 9 to 9:30 a.m.

Board Game Playing: Four weeks starting Wednesday, June 7; 9 to 9:30 a.m.

Wii Bowling: Five weeks starting Thursday, June 1; 10-11:00 a.m.

Tech Help — Tuesdays: Four weeks starting Tuesday, June 6; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bocce Ball: Five weeks starting Friday, June 2; 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Modified Independence Evaluations presents the fall prevention film, “The Saving Claire Project,” Thursday, June 1; 11 a.m. to noon.

Daysi Jacobson Accounting: How to prepare for next tax season. Tuesday, June 6; 11 a.m. to noon.

Tap Dance Recital: Enjoy THE PLAYERS’ own tap dance group and the Matanzas Tap Dancers from COA’s River House as they present their spring recital. Thursday, June 8; 11 a.m. to noon.

Concierge Care: A fun talk on sun protection and staying healthy in the summer. Tuesday, June 13; 11 a.m. to noon.

Windsor Pointe: Stay hydrated in the summer heat. Make and enjoy fruit-infused water with Windsor Pointe. Free. Thursday, June 15; 11 a.m. to noon.

Camellia at Deerwood presents organizing tips for summer wardrobes and vacations. Tuesday, June 20; 11 a.m. to noon.

Hurricane Season starts June 1: The Red Cross will be on site for a free presentation on hurricane preparedness. Thursday, June 22; 11 a.m. to noon.

Community Hospice visits to talk about the four things that matter most when saying goodbye to a loved one. Tuesday, June 27; 11 a.m. to noon.

Monthly Birthday Celebration: There will be cake and the music of local favorite James Cargill. Thursday, June 29; 11 a.m. to noon.
