Tim Tebow Foundation hosts 2019 Celebrity Golf Classic at TPC Sawgrass

Blue skies and sunshine poured over TPC Sawgrass on Saturday as Ponte Vedra native and former Gators quarterback Tim Tebow hosted his foundation’s 2019 Celebrity Golf Classic.

Celebrities and athletes such as Chip Gaines from HGTV’s “Fixer Upper,” “Duck Dynasty’s” John Luke Robertson, former MLB star Johnny Damon and former Jaguars players Rashean Mathis and Josh Scobee, came together to contribute to the foundation while enjoying some friendly competition. Those in attendance enjoyed a celebrity gala the previous evening at the TPC Clubhouse.

Food trucks from local staples such as TacoLu, Auntie Anne’s and 4 Rivers Smokehouse parked outside the 14th hole surrounded by entertainment including corn hole, giant Jenga, the Tim Tebow Foundation merchandise tent and more.

FanZones were set up at the 16th, 17th and 18th holes to watch the players participate in mini-competitions, such as a free throw challenge on the 16th, the party game app, Heads Up, on the 17th and a spectator putt from the gallery on the 18th. Fans also took photos and engaged with the celebrities in those areas before they moved on to the next hole.

The event ended with success as Tebow came out to shoot his final shot at the 17th Island Green and thanked everyone for contributing and attending the event. But that wasn’t before playing a round of Heads Up with his team, throwing his hat in friendly frustration and having a laugh.

The Tim Tebow Foundation is divided into five ministries that help underprivileged children from around the world, ranging from awarding adoption grants to families adopting children with special needs, to Timmy’s Playrooms, which are created in hospitals for children to “take their minds off medical treatment and just be kids again.”
