First Coast Cultural Center (FCCC) will offer its popular Baking Camp and Drama and Art Camp for children ages 7-12 on Dec. 29, with combo packages and discounts for members.
In Baking Camp, young chefs will make sweet and savory goods for breakfast, lunch and dessert.
“This class fills up quickly, and children will work with chef instructors, learning valuable skills about kitchen safety, ingredients and basic measurements, tasting along the way,” said FCCC’s senior operations director, Silvia Romero. “They’ll also bring home recipes for the new year.”
In Drama and Art Camp, children will dive into the world of acting through improvisation, monologues and scene work lead by acting coach Sheri Lahris, from 9 to 11 a.m. Then, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., professional art educator Jen Myer will guide students through drawing, printmaking and more.
Baking Camp and Drama and Art Camp are $100 each for nonmembers and $90 for members.
Also, a two-day Baking Camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 30 and 31. The cost is $200 for nonmembers and $185 for members. For those registering for all three camp days, enter the code FULLWINTER in the cart to receive a $20 discount per child at this link: https://firstcoastculturalcenter.org/programs-events/art-camps.
In January, FCCC will continue with another semester of its Kick StART afterschool art-enrichment program at PVPV/Rawlings Elementary, Ocean Palms Elementary, Lakeside Academy and Freedom Crossing Academy.
This weekly, 90-minute program gives students an opportunity to develop their personal creative perspectives in the areas of painting, sculpting and art history.
“Children’s efforts are valued and encouraged as they explore, experiment and create,” according to Romero. “Kick StART is a fun program that builds hands-on skills and confidence.”
Discounts are available for FCCC members, and the registration deadline is Jan. 15. Register using this link: https://firstcoastculturalcenter.org/programs-events/kick-start.
FCCC is located at 6000B Sawgrass Village Circle, Ponte Vedra Beach.
