The Northeast Florida Association of Realtors (NEFAR) invites the public to take part in the Clean Up Northeast Florida Waters event, a local effort as a part of the larger Florida Realtors’ Clean Up Florida Waters Initiative.
This collaborative project brings Realtors and community members together to clean local waterways by removing litter and debris that threaten the environment and wildlife. Every bag of trash collected helps restore and protect natural ecosystems.
On July 12, volunteers will gather from 8 to 11 a.m. at Crystal Cove Marina and RV Resort in Palatka. Additional cleanup locations include boat ramps at Lake Santa Fe, Lake Brooklyn, Lake Geneva and Rodman Dam. A post-cleanup party will follow from 11 a.m. to noon at Crystal Cove Marina.
On July 19, the main event takes place from 9 a.m. to noon across Duval, Clay and St. Johns counties. Sites include Black Creek Bridge in Clay County and several boat ramps and parks in Jacksonville, such as the Lion’s Club Boat Ramp in Arlington, North Riverwalk, Wayne B Stevens Ramp in Ortega, Bert Maxwell Ramp on the Northside and Helen Cooper Floyd Park in Mayport. An after party will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at the NEFAR Resource Center.
This year’s goal is to remove 10,000 pounds of trash from local waterways. By participating, volunteers make a difference in the health of Northeast Florida’s rivers, lakes and coastal areas. This is an opportunity to contribute to the community, get community service hours, enjoy time outdoors and connect with other community members.
