Members in attendance enjoyed food, bid on silent and live auctions, and listened to the music of Nick Marino. The “Play it Forward” gala theme was created to align with a generous contribution made by the synagogue’s leader, Rabbi Michael Matuson. The rabbi pledged to create and direct a large donation to a fund dedicated to paying down the Beth El building mortgage. The annual gala is just the start for this match. In the April 2 St. Johns County Commission meeting, the Board of County Commissioners decided to move forward with a Request for Proposals (RFP) process for a paid parking program for off-beach parking lots. Based on the community feedback and public comment, however, county staff has a difficult task ahead with balancing the area’s expectations and limited resources. more
