2nd Annual ‘Fred Funk Challenge’ golf tournament April 11 Charity tournament offers chance to ‘play a hole with a pro’

The 2nd Annual Fred Funk Challenge charity golf tournament will be held Monday April 11 at Atlantic Beach Country Club in Atlantic Beach.

Scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start, the event will feature 18 holes of golf plus a post-tournament luncheon. The registration fee for the tournament is $250 per player and includes golf, use of the driving range, green and cart fees and the opportunity to play a hole with pro. In addition to Fred Funk, professional athletes participating in the tournament include retired NFL players Bill Bates and Josh Scobee, retired NFL Coach Dan Henning and former major league baseball pitcher Graham Taylor. Each player will also receive a team photo autographed by Funk.

Prizes will be awarded in a number of categories. There will also be prize raffles and an opportunity to win a Cadillac donated by Claude Nolan and a boat from North Florida Yacht Sales for making a par 3 hole in one.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Crosswater Community Church’s “The Future is Now” campaign to build a new facility for local children and youth. Tournament sponsorship opportunities are also available.
