As the nation paused to recognize the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, locally, K9s For Warriors paid tribute to the individuals who lost their lives on the deadliest terrorist attack in U.S. history with an inaugural ceremony “Reflections: A 9/11 Memorial Service.”

The memorial service was held the morning of Sept. 11 at the brand new, multi-million dollar K9s For Warriors headquarters located at 114 Camp K9 Road, Ponte Vedra Beach in the Nocatee community. Local military service members participated in a flag lowering ceremony followed by a moment of silence to honor the victims of 9/11.

This year marked the 14th anniversary of the terrorist bombings of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and United Flight 93. In total, nearly 3,000 individuals lost their lives.

Nationally, memorial ceremonies were also held at The National September 11 Memorial plaza in New York City, the Pentagon Memorial in Virginia, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, the city near where United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in an empty field, claiming the lives of 40 people.

Many people also paid tribute via social media using the hashtag #NeverForget.
