Angelwood celebrates partnership with Underwood’s Jewelers

Underwood’s Jewelers and Angelwood, Inc. will join forces once again this August during the Angelwood Fashion Show and Luncheon. The event is one in a series of partnerships that the jeweler and nonprofit have enjoyed throughout the season.

The Aug. 12 fashion show will mark the culmination of a summer-long fundraising event that began with an Ippolita jewelry show just before Mother’s Day, whereby 10 percent of the proceeds benefited Angelwood. During the three-day trunk show in May, the jeweler unveiled an 18-karat gold Glamazon Stardust pendant from the Ippolita Senso line after Underwood’s approached them about donating a necklace for a raffle drawing that would benefit Angelwood.

Worth nearly $4,000, the donation spurred a frenzy of raffle ticket sales for the annual fashion show, which is Angelwood’s biggest fundraising event of the year. The necklace will be on display at Underwood’s of Ponte Vedra until the fashion show, where customers can view the piece and purchase raffle tickets.

A history of partnership

Underwood’s Jewelers is a longtime supporter of Angelwood, donating silent auction items for Angelwood’s golf classic in April and wine glasses for its winter wine social. Most recently, Underwood’s Jewelers Ponte Vedra Manager John Rutowski presented Angelwood Executive Director Diane Tuttle with a check, adding to the funds raised that will continue to benefit Angelwood’s group homes, behavior services and other programs for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

According to Angelwood Development Director Tera Williams, the donation was perfectly timed.

“(We’re) currently in need of two handicapped accessible program vehicles,” Williams said. “The check presentation could not have come at a better time for the organization.”

Tuttle said the partnership has been a grace to Angelwood’s services.

“John, his staff at Underwood’s in Ponte Vedra along with Underwood’s owner, Clayton Bromberg and Ippolita truly have a commitment to give back to our community,” she said. “For Angelwood to be on the receiving end of such generosity and kindness has been a true blessing."

Though the summer’s trunk show marked the first in-store collaboration between the two, Williams hopes there will be opportunities for an ongoing partnership.

“Underwood’s has always been wonderful to Angelwood in helping with events by donating items,” she said. “We hope to be able to plan events with them for next year, as well.”

Angelwood’s Summer in the City fashion show and luncheon will be held at the Sawgrass Marriott’s Champions Ballroom in Ponte Vedra Beach Aug. 12 at 10 a.m. In addition to the raffle, the event will feature shopping, a silent auction, a fashion show and luncheon. Those interested in attending must RSVP by July 31.
