Area residents enjoy Active After 50 Expo

Posted

Several hundred area residents visited the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall and Ponte Vedra Memory Care Center on May 18 to attend the Active After 50 Expo, a lifestyle, health and aging event.

Produced by Lifestyle Events Management, the free event provided baby boomers, seniors, caregivers, family members and professionals who serve that population with information on fitness, travel and cruises, leisure and recreation, finance, retirement and insurance, nutrition and diet, memory care services, and senior living and assisted living, among other topics. Brought to the community by activeboomersandseniors.com and WSOS Radio, over 60 exhibitors attended to offer information about their products and services.

The expo also featured numerous seminars and a Treasures in the Attic antique appraisal in the Ponte Vedra Memory Care Center. Sponsored by the Ponte Vedra Recorder and benefiting the St. Johns County Council on Aging, the event was based off the popular PBS show, “Antiques Roadshow.” Appraisals were provided by B. Langston Estate Sales & Auctions and Expert Jewelry Appraisers.

In addition, visitors to the Expo had the opportunity to participate in the Passport to Prizes activity (sponsored by Liberate Physician Centers and Surterra Wellness) to win a variety of prizes provided by sponsors and exhibitors. Upon entering the Expo, guests received a passport and then visited the booths with a Passport to Prizes sign to have their passports stamped or initialed by the exhibitor. Grand prizes included a large flat-screen Smart TV and an “Evening Out in Lincoln Luxury” courtesy of Bozard Lincoln.

Kevin Geddings from WSOS 103.9 St. Augustine/95.5 Ponte Vedra was also broadcasting live on the main stage in the Concert Hall playing the hits of the 60s, 70s and 80s.

Presenting sponsors Flagler Health+, Bozard Lincoln and Medicare Mary joined other sponsors including AARP, the Ponte Vedra Recorder, Humana, Island Doctors, Surterra Wellness, Liberate Physician Centers and Re-bath.
