St. Vincent’s Southside and Clay County have earned an “A” Spring 2025 Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization focused on patient safety.
The Safety Grade assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.
“Safety is one of our foremost priorities for our patients from the very first moment they enter our care,” said Dr. Mario Pulido, St. Vincent’s chief medical officer. “We strive to protect them when they are at our hospitals, in order to provide the best outcomes and security for patients and their families.”
St. Vincent’s Southside and Clay County are among 32% of hospitals nationwide to achieve a spring 2025 “A”. In Florida, the hospitals are two of only 70 to achieve an “A”. This is the third consecutive “A” grade for St. Vincent’s Clay County, dating back to spring 2024. This is the second consecutive “A” for St. Vincent’s Southside, dating back to fall 2024.
The grading system is peer-reviewed and open to public scrutiny. Hospital Safety Grades are updated each fall and spring.
“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade reflects enormous dedication to patient safety,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I extend my congratulations to Ascension St. Vincent’s, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for creating a culture where patients come first.”
St. Vincent’s was also recognized as a top 15 health system in the country for 2024 by Fortune and PINC AI.
