Athlete of the Week: Megan Burke

Posted

The Ponte Vedra Recorder recently interviewed senior golfer Megan Burke of Ponte Vedra High School (PVHS) for this edition of the Athlete of the Week series. Burke recently shot even par to finish in third place individually at the Lake Mary Invitational Tournament against difficult competition. The PVHS student discussed why she decided to play golf, her role models, recent accomplishments and more.

Why did you decide to play golf?

I decided to play golf because I really love the individuality of the sport. I love being able to focus on my game, personally, and be able to go out and have every round be different. It’s never the same because every time you go out, it's always a different challenge. You're faced with different obstacles. It's never the same, and that's what I love about it.

Is there anyone involved with the sport who you look up to?

I have to say, my coach (Clint) Finlay. He loves to play golf, and I've been with him all four of my years here at high school. He has just non-stop supported and always encouraged me to be doing better, and has really been a guy I can look up to and love and be honored to have been able to be with for my four years in high school.

How does it feel to be in the midst of your best season ever?

It feels really satisfying. To be able to play such good golf, it's what you love and why you love to play and it is definitely has been mind-blowing. I've worked very hard, and it’s nice to be able to have it all come together finally for my senior year.
