During a special presentation recently at Bull Park, Atlantic Beach Mayor Curtis Ford issued proclamations honoring the individuals responsible for creating and sustaining two cherished local cultural traditions: Acoustic Night at Bull Park and the Songwriters’ Concerts at Adele Grage Cultural Center’s Gulliford Hall.
For 24 years, these events have served as “shining stars” of the Atlantic Beach community, providing an intimate, family-friendly environment for local musicians to share their craft. Originally envisioned as a “safe place” for artists to gain confidence and connect with neighbors, the programs have grown into a musical legacy that resonates across Northeast Florida.
The three proclamations formally recognize:
“These events exemplify the goodwill and sense of place that define Atlantic Beach,” said Ford. “It is fitting that we recognize the vision of Steve Piscitelli, the foundational role of Mike Shackelford and the commitment of Roy Peak in preserving this enchanting musical culture.”
Acoustic Night and the Songwriters’ Concerts are held monthly and remain free to the public. The next Songwriters’ Concert is scheduled for April 12, followed by Acoustic Night on April 26. Both events run from 6 to 8 p.m.; a food truck is stationed at the Acoustic Night events.
