Beaches Council on Aging has added a new vehicle to its fleet thanks to a donation from the Ponte Vedra Beach Rotary Foundation. The vehicle will support Beaches Dial-a-Ride, strengthening the organization’s ability to provide safe, reliable transportation for seniors and adults with disabilities throughout Jacksonville’s Beaches communities.
The 2025 Honda Odyssey can accommodate up to eight passengers and will replace a 2011 Toyota Scion. Beaches Dial-a-Ride celebrated its 50th anniversary last year and the demand for accessible transportation is continuing to grow in the area.
“Our mission is to improve the quality of life for senior residents of the Beaches by connecting them to people, services and places with care,” said Lori Anderson, executive director of Beaches Council on Aging. “This new van will help us continue providing dependable transportation to the people who rely on our services. We are incredibly grateful to the Ponte Vedra Beach Rotary Foundation for investing in our mission and the people we serve.”
For older adults and people with disabilities, reliable and effortless transportation is crucial to maintaining independence, health and connection to their community. The new van will help Beaches Council on Aging continue meeting this growing need while providing riders with safe, dependable and accessible transportation.
The van donation reflects the Ponte Vedra Beach Rotary Foundation’s longstanding commitment to supporting organizations that make a meaningful difference in the community. Over the years, the Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra Beach has contributed more than $2 million to local nonprofits and community organizations, investing in projects that create tangible, lasting benefits for the people they serve.
“We love opportunities like this, when we can help an organization we believe in with some tangible, special and long-lasting. This vehicle isn’t just a donation. It means more people served, more people connected, and lives impacted,” said Billy Wagner, immediate past-chair of the Ponte Vedra Beach Rotary Foundation. “I’m incredible proud to be part of a Rotary Club filled with people who don’t just talk about making a difference. They show up and make it happen.”
With the support of community partners like the Ponte Vedra Beach Rotary Foundation, Beaches Council on Aging can continue removing transportation barriers and helping local seniors and adults with disabilities remain independent, connected and engaged in their community.
