Beaches Fine Arts Series opens its 53rd season with the Poulenc Trio and Hanzhi Wang on at 4 p.m. Sept. 28 at St. Paul’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Jacksonville Beach. Doors open at 3:15 p.m. for this free concert; seating is first come, first served. A reception follows in Christopher Lobby to meet the artists.

The fusion of Wang’s mastery on accordion with the acclaimed Poulenc Trio of piano, oboe and bassoon creates a musical dialogue that transcends genres and eras. In an exceptional concert, these virtuosic artists breathe new life into the classical repertoire.

Acclaimed for her “staggering virtuosity,” Wang is the only accordionist to ever win a place on the roster of Young Concert Artists in its 63-year history. An ambassador for her instrument, Wang has been praised for her captivating stage presence and performances that display passion and finesse. A groundbreaking artist, Wang’s achievements include being named Musical America’s “New Artist of the Month,” becoming the first solo accordionist to be featured on New York WQXR’s Young Artists Showcase. She made her New York debut at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall and her Washington, D.C., debut at the Kennedy Center.

The Poulenc Trio is the most active touring piano-wind chamber music ensemble in the world. The trio has performed in 47 U.S. states and at music festivals around the world.

Irina Kaplan Lande, artistic director, trained in the famous tradition of piano playing at the St. Petersburg Conservatory in Russia. She is a winner of the Baltimore Chamber Music Award.

Lande is a longtime faculty member at the Peabody Institute, teaching piano and chamber music, and has served on the faculty of the College of Notre Dame and Towson University.

Aleh Remezau, oboe, is renowned for his “incredibly expressive” playing (Vancouver Sun). He has performed in major venues as well in Canada, the United States, Austria and the United Kingdom.

Bryan Young is principal bassoonist of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra and has performed as soloist with the Baltimore Symphony and the National Symphony Orchestra.

Young appeared with legendary jazz-leader Cab Calloway in his final performances at the Kennedy Center in Washington.
