Big Fish Power Yoga to open Nocatee location next month

Building on the success of its Jacksonville Beach location, Big Fish Power Yoga will open a second studio in Nocatee next month, with a grand opening scheduled for April 16.

The original studio opened in 2010 and was located off Osceola Avenue in Jacksonville Beach. After three successful years in that location, the decision was made to build a new, larger studio in the South Beach Regional Shopping Center. That studio has been open for two years.

Big Fish founder Mary Lyn Jenkins said she has built her studios on the philosophy of community and giving back. That sense of community also played a part in her decision to open the second studio in Nocatee.

“Growing communities need a space for connection,” Jenkins said. “We know that Big Fish has been an incredible space for connecting people, ideas and ultimately moving a culture of service and leadership forward.”

At 1,500 square feet, the new Nocatee location is half the size of the Jacksonville Beach studio. With space for 55 mats, the studio will also include office space along with boutique offering Big Fish branded merchandise, athletic gear and gifts for men and women.

Jenkins said she is also excited about the opportunity for her team to help develop leadership in children.

“Ponte Vedra High School is our neighbor and the Nocatee studio will be a great place for these kids to connect in a healthy way, step into programs that will expand their leadership and connect them to each other powerfully,” she said.

The type of yoga practiced at Big Fish is power Vinyasa yoga, an energetic form of yoga that builds strength and endurance. An introductory series will begin as soon as the studio opens. Big Fish’s 200-hour leader teacher training begins in May; the training will be shared between the Nocatee and the Jacksonville Beach studios.

For the little ones this summer, Little Fish Camp at Nocatee will be held June 13-17. Family classes and teen classes will begin in the fall.

Big Fish Yoga memberships are transferable between studios, but each studio will have a different class schedule.

Big Fish Power Yoga’s new Nocatee is located at 641 Crosswater Parkway, Suite C, Ponte Vedra. For more information, visit www.bigfishpoweryoga.com.
