A few weeks ago, a friend gave me a hilarious satirical book authored by Rohan Candappa, tilted, “The Little Book of Stress: Calm is for Wimps. Get Real. Get Stressed.” The premise of the short read is that it is time to admit that stress is good. Because without stress, we would all be very, very nice and stomach-churningly contented. Who wants to live in a world like that?
Mr. Candappa’s simple teachings demonstrate how we are often our own worst enemy by increasing not only our level of stress but others as well! Additionally, the author provides examples if you want to offend someone! Some of the comical tips include gems such as the following:
Squeeze the toothpaste from the middle and never put on the cap.
Recognize other people’s limitations and then tell people what they are.
Ask any single women if they got a boyfriend yet. Repeat on Valentine’s Day.
Gardening is relaxing. Never garden.
Always work late. It will make you feel tired, irritable and miserable.
Do not only worry about big thigs. Small things need to be worried about too.
Keep up with the Joneses and every other person on your street.
Never clear the air. Investigate all the subtle nuances of the word, “fester.”
Do not count your blessings. Count your problems.
Why meditate when you can worry? Worrying is a realist’s medication.
Deal with bureaucracies often, as they are the foundation of stress creation.
Recognize that happiness depends solely on your material possessions you own.
When you ask a woman any question, suggest that she checks with her husband before answering.
Take every opportunity to give advice, especially on subjects that you have little to no knowledge.
Nurture your grievances. If you do not, they will die and then whoever has done you wrong will have got away with it.
Since I tend to be a stressed person, the funny read was just the little breather that I needed before the start of another stressful day!
