Rufus “Gator Man” Stratton made the front page of the June 23, 2000 edition of the Recorder with an 8-foot nuisance gator trapped at Sawgrass Players Club. According to the caption, the hide went to Europe and the meat was served in a local restaurant.
The first issue of the Ponte Vedra Recorder published Nov. 7, 1969. To celebrate the wit, wisdom and history of the Recorder’s readership, newspaper staff is eager to learn about and share your clippings from any year. So, look in the attic or in those boxes tucked away at the back of the closet to find past issues of the Recorder. Maybe you have a scrapbook with clippings of family weddings, births or graduations.
