For 20 years, the toy soldiers have been marching, the mischievous mice have been menacing and the sugar plum fairies have fluttered in the sweet annual performance of the Christ Episcopal Church production of the Nutcracker Ballet.
The production, which over the years has continually entertained the community of all ages, also involves an all-ages cast, ranging in age from two and a half to 90-year-olds. This year’s cast involved over 300 performers.
As part of the Christ Episcopal Church dance ministry, Felicia Rhoden, director of the Dance Ministry at Christ Episcopal, has fostered the congregation’s penchant for dance and giving back.
Each year, the production, which also includes fundraising events leading up to The Nutcracker performance, benefits children in need — some with life-threatening conditions. Beneficiaries include Dreams Come True, Community PedsCare and the Amistad Orphanage in Bolivia, among others.
