COA Center in Nocatee announces February events

The following programs will be held at COA Center at Flagler Health+ Village at Nocatee, 351 Town Plaza Ave. Registration is required, and space is limited. Unless specified otherwise, registration should be made by emailing pbrunell@stjohnscoa.com or by calling 904-819-3234.

FITNESS CLASSES

Chair Yoga: Tuesdays, starting Feb. 1 for four weeks. Class time: 10:30 am. Cost: $30. Instructor: Alison Vitta. Register: coasjc.coursestorm.com/category/coa-center-at-nocatee.

Stretch, Strengthen, Move and Groove: Tuesdays, starting Feb. 1 for four weeks. Class time: 12:30 p.m. Cost: $30. Register: coasjc.coursestorm.com/category/coa-center-at-nocatee.

Tai Chi: Wednesdays, starting Feb. 2 for four weeks. Class time: 1:30 pm. Cost: $30. Instructor: Dennis Sheils. Register: coasjc.coursestorm.com/category/coa-center-at-nocatee.

EDUCATIONAL CLASSES (open to adults 18+)

Make Life Easier – Caregivers: A free presentation by Prachi Rathi. Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m.

Valentine Card Making with Denise: Make and send homemade greeting cards. Three cards for $6. Wednesday, Feb. 2 from 3 to 4 p.m.

Cooking for Heart Health: Carla Defuria, registered dietitian and health coach at Flagler Health+ Village at Nocatee, will tell participants what they need to eat to have a healthy heart for a healthy life.  Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m.

Exploitation of the Elderly and Disabled: The second in a series of lectures by attorney Megan Wall, St Johns County Legal Aid. Wednesday, Feb. 23 from 10 to 11 a.m.

FREE CLUBS AND MEETINGS

No instructor will be present at these events. Meetings will be self-guided by the group except for the Caregiver’s Support Group. Advance registration for clubs and meetings is required by calling 904-819-3234 or via email to pbrunell@stjohnscoa.com.

TUESDAY CLUBS

Widows and Widowers: Social group meeting the second and fourth Tuesday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meeting Feb. 8 and 22. 

Caregiver Support Group: All caregivers are welcome. Meets every Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. except holidays. There is a trained facilitator present at every meeting to guide the group.

WEDNESDAY CLUBS

Community Crafting: Bring your craft and work on it with friends. Get new ideas and socialize with other crafters. Meets every Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Parkinson’s Meet & Greet: A meeting for people living with Parkinson’s disease and/or their loved ones. A representative from JAX Hope will be there, and discussion will include local support and resources.  Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 3 p.m.

Genealogy Group: A genealogy expert will offer guidance. Feb. 16 from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Mah Jongg Meet Up: For experienced players. No instructor present. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 9 and 23 from 1 to 3 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 16, from 3 to 5 p.m.
