Posted

Daniel is holding its 10th annual Backyard Barbecue presented by Stubb’s Legendary Bar-B-Q on Saturday, April 6, from noon to 5 p.m. at Tailgaters Parking located at 225 Tallyrand Ave. in Jacksonville. Dozens of professional and amateur barbecue teams will gather to compete to win Backyard BBQ King, while attendees enjoy delicious samples, music and family fun. Net proceeds benefit the Glyn Cook scholarship program, which enables Daniel kids to further their education. Sponsorships and team registrations are still being accepted, and tickets to the event are $15 each. Daniel is Florida’s oldest child-service agency — celebrating its 135th anniversary of community service this year. It assists an average of 3,000 children and families each day through a diverse range of innovative and nationally recognized programs. Daniel offers abused and emotionally troubled children refuge and counseling, connects kids with foster and adoptive homes, helps homeless teenagers find housing and jobs and more.
