Eugene “Gene” J. White

Eugene “Gene” J. White, 86, died Jan. 2, 2017. He was born Feb. 23, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania and retired to Ponte Vedra Beach in 1980.

Gene started his career selling galvanized trash cans for Wheeling Steel and was chosen to appear on the popular television show “What’s My Line” in 1955. He continued his career in industrial sales having designed, built and sold environmentally conscious incinerators to governmental agencies, hospitals and crematoriums worldwide. Gene was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania for over 60 years. More than anything Gene enjoyed golf, motorcycles, traveling, RVing and spending quality time with his family.

Gene was predeceased by his wife Martha on Oct. 6, 2016. They are both lovingly remembered by their children, Claudia Waldo of Jacksonville Beach; Amy Arroyo of York, Pennsylvania; and E.J. White (Cora) of Cumming, Georgia; grandchildren Jedediah Waldo, Christina White and Kayla White; and great-grandchildren Bishop Waldo and Bodhi Waldo Ruffino.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Cypress Village Wellness Center and Community Hospice for their support and love.

A service celebrating the life of Gene and Martha White will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home, 3600 South Third St., Jacksonville Beach, FL.
