Festival of Lights 5K is Saturday

Posted

The 26th Annual Festival of Lights 5K and one-mile fun run are planned for Saturday, Dec. 4, and will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals of Jacksonville.

Luminaries will light up the streets of San Marco as runners, walkers and strollers of all ages and abilities take off during this unique, holiday-themed race.

The event will provide UF Health Jacksonville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital with much-needed funding for the purchase of life-saving equipment, telehealth services and resources they need most to care for local kids.

Participants will be eligible for finisher medals, race shirts and awards to top finishers overall and in age groups.

The 5K and one-mile fun run will both start on Atlantic Boulevard in front of the Southside Baptist Church. Place flags will be placed along the side of the starting line. This is a very large race, so participants should try to start in the proper area to help avoid congestion. Walkers should start in the back.

The one-mile fun run and the 5K will both finish at the same finish line on San Marco Boulevard in front of 1st Place Sports. Medals will be distributed as participants exit the finish area.

Entry fees are: $40 through Friday, Dec. 3, and $50 on race day for the 5K; $20 through Friday, Dec. 3, and $25 on race day for the one-mile fun run.
