First Street Gallery to present juried exhibition of Jacksonville Artists Guild

Posted

First Street Gallery will hold a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 7 to mark the opening of a juried exhibition of beach-related art by the Jacksonville Artists Guild.

The exhibition, which begins April 6, is one of several projects by the guild, which aims to elevate artistic awareness and participation through programs and exhibits that promote the arts. Other community outreach efforts include projects with the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, Angels for Allison, First Coast No More Homeless Pets, The Garden Club of Jacksonville and yearly exhibits with the Riverside Avondale Preservation Home Tour.

Founded by Carole Mehrtens and Bill Schmidt, the guild is the legacy of the late artist Christine Schmidt, whose long-time dream was to establish a guild for the growth and support of local artists and art appreciation.

The Jacksonville Artists Guild’s First Street Gallery exhibition will be displayed through May 23. For more information about the guild, visit www.jacksonvilleartistsguild.org.
