Children in the St. Johns area will have an opportunity to receive free dental services from Alyssha Powers, DMD, Elizabeth Klanderman, DMD, and their dental team at Durbin Creek Dental Care as part of Kids Free Dentistry Day Saturday, Feb. 8.
Nearly one in four children between the ages of 2 to 11 years have untreated cavities in primary teeth, according to the Center for Disease Control. Children are not visiting a dentist often enough to treat decay in its early stages.
“It’s unfortunate that so many children have enough decay in their primary teeth that the only solution is multiple crowns or pulling teeth that can no longer be saved,” said Powers. “We look at Kid’s Free Dentistry Day as a way to provide important preventative care to children in our community, as well as educate them on the importance of having a good oral hygiene regimen.”
During Kids Free Dentistry Day, cleaning, fluoride and sealants will be provided to children, under age 18, on Saturday, Feb. 8 between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. at 70 Durbin Pavilion Dr Ste 112, St. Johns. Patients will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call (904)325-7276 or visit www.FreeDentistryDay.org.
