George and Dorothy Hardy

George Theodore Hardy was born March 22, 1925, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, to Clement Gabriel and Imogene Hardy. Ted was one of seven children. He served in the United States Army Air Forces as a pilot in World War II. A long-time member of Parkwood Baptist Church, he also served as a deacon and led a Sunday school class for more than 30 years. An avid golfer, he enjoyed finishing his working days as the ranger on the golf course at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. He died Feb. 17.

Dorothy White Hardy was born Oct. 1, 1925, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to Harmon Holden and Thelma Falkner White. Dottie was one of two children. Also a long-time member of Parkwood Baptist Church, she made and melded many friendships. While living in New Orleans, she volunteered many hours at the March of Dimes and worked as a school librarian and substitute teacher. She retired from Florida National Bank after a long career in banking. She died Feb. 19.

Ted and Dot were both 91 at the time of their passing, and they were blessed with 72 years of marriage.

They were predeceased by both sets of parents, their son Steven Theodore Hardy and three of Ted’s sisters.

They are survived by three children Ann (Gary) McDonald, Jill (Greg) Leach and Scott (Linda) Hardy; five grandchildren, Erin (Jeff Walker) McDonald, Colleen (Andrew) Seese, Jennifer (Brandon) Harrell, Jonathan Theodore Hardy and Trevor Gregory Leach; four great-grandchildren, Meagan, Andrew Jr, and Harry Seese; and Magdalene Grace Harrell; Ted’s three sisters, Paula Schroeder, Lucy Schmidt and Norma Clem; Dot’s sister Betty Garrett; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A dual-memorial service was held Feb. 21 at Parkwood Baptist Church in Jacksonville, and a celebration of life will be held at a later time.
