Fifty junior golfers and their families had an opportunity to participate in a live Twitter question and answer session with a pro golfer May 10 as part of a junior golfer appreciation event organized by Jacksonville-area golf organizations.

Held at a private home in Sawgrass Players Club, the event enabled attendees to ask questions via Twitter of PGA Tour professional Chesson Hadley. Hadley earned his PGA Tour card in 2014, won the Puerto Rico Open and was named the tour’s Rookie of the Year. Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, he played golf at Georgia Tech, where he was a three-time All-American and won two events, including the 2012 ACC Championship. Hadley turned pro in 2010, earning his way onto the Web.com Tour in 2013.

The Twitter event was hosted by Ponte Vedra High School senior Hannah Berman, who is captain of the girls’ golf team. Berman competed in the 2015 U.S. Women’s Amateur, won the USGA/AJGA President’s award and a received a golf scholarship to the University of West Florida.

Event organizers said the event was organized as a way of showing appreciation to junior golfers and their families for their dedication to the game while also providing insight into what it takes to move junior and college golf to the professional level.

Organizations involved in arranging the event include the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT), Game Golf, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Golf Jacksonville, The Golf Academy of North Florida, North Florida Junior Golf (NFJG) Foundation and Tour and Berardi Golf Academy.
