A 27-year old Duval County man was arrested early Friday morning in connection with the burglary of two vehicles in the 100 block of Solano Cay Circle in Ponte Vedra Beach, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Steven Karl Bartle of Jacksonville Beach was booked into the county jail, where he remains in lieu of $5,000 bond. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began at 3:30 a.m. Friday morning when a resident in the 100 block of Solano Cay Circle said he saw the suspect looking into the bed of the victim’s pickup truck while it was parked in the driveway. The victim called the Sheriff’s Office and yelled at the suspect, who fled on foot.
A short time later, however, the suspect returned and began arguing with the victim as deputies arrived. Bartle was taken into custody without incident.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the investigation revealed that the suspect’s vehicle contained property that belonged to another resident on the same block. The investigation is ongoing.
