The Beaches are now “officially” open, thanks to the festivities and fun of the annual Beaches Parade held on Sunday, April 28.

The event, now in its 73rd year, brings the community together to celebrate the best thing about the area — its beaches. Hundreds of families and residents lined the streets of downtown Jacksonville Beach to enjoy the sun and festivities of the event, including the 43rd annual Sand Castle Contest.

The parade featured many community staples, such as The Morocco Shriners, the Jacksonville Beach Lifeguards, the Exchange Club of the Jacksonville Beaches, the Beaches Honor Guard, Jacksonville Beach Ocean Rescue, the Neptune Beach Police Department and Jacksonville Beach Police Department, K9s for Warriors, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1046 and the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, to name a few.
