Kathleen Ann Maher Taaffe, 74, died on April 7, 2018. Kathy was born Nov. 2, 1943, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. She graduated from Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing and was a registered nurse for 15 years at Kent County Hospital. Kathy married Robert “Kevin” Taaffe in 1964, and they began their family in Warwick, Rhode Island. In 1978, Kathy and Kevin moved their family to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, where they lived for 40 years together.

Over the past 20 years, Kathy’s favorite times were spent vacationing with her family in Longboat Key, Florida. She loved the crystal blue water, salty air and the sand on her feet, but not as much as having her husband, four children and six grandchildren all together each year.

Kathy, or “Nannie” to the family, was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to many. She is survived by her devoted husband of almost 54 years, Kevin Taaffe; her four children, Anne T. Few, Christopher F. Taaffe (Daniel Sladek), Monica M. Heron (David) and Patrick K. Taaffe (Tina); and her six grandchildren, Kaitlyn Few, Lauren Heron, Makenzie Few, Conner Heron, Marshall Few Jr. and Haley Taaffe. She is also survived by her sibling Jacqueline Camp (Jerry); her brother and sisters-in-law, Paul and Karen Robinson, Dorothy Taaffe and Joan Taaffe; and many nieces and nephews. Kathy also had a special “sisterhood” with her many friends from “Christ Renews His Parish” at Our Lady Star of the Sea for several years.

A Memorial Mass to celebrate Kathy’s life was held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 545 A1A North, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 16, 2018. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Community Hospice and Palliative Care, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
