Ponte Vedra-based nonprofit Hugs From Hunter 3 helped spread the Christmas cheer at Nemours Children’s Care in Jacksonville last week.
The local organization arranged for Santa and Mrs. Claus to visit the clinic’s psychology and psychiatry department on Wednesday, Dec. 5 and deliver 100 gifts to patients. This year, Hugs from Hunter 3 presented Nemours Children’s Care a check for $25,000 to support the Mental Health Support Fund.
The nonprofit was created by the parents of Matthew, Michael and Hunter Hodges, three boys who shared the same rare disease — dyskeratosis, a genetic form of bone marrow failure that is identified in fewer than 300 cases in the world. Michael and Hunter have both passed away from their disease and Matthew continues to fight.
The organization’s mission statement is “healing hearts by serving those in need” in the community. For more information on the nonprofit, visit https://www.hugsfromhunter3.com/.
