Locals hit the books at semi-annual library sale

Book lovers rejoice: a literary smorgasbord awaits this weekend, where your purchase of books will go to support your local library.

The Ponte Vedra Friends of the Library semi-annual book sale began on Wednesday, and runs through Saturday. The Friends have been selling books for the past 20 years, and all proceeds go towards helping the club continue to improve the Ponte Vedra Beach Library.

Mac Watkins, who is managing the book sale this year, spoke highly of the books that are available.

“We have the best prices for the highest quality product,” he said. “We have books that have been generously donated by library patrons. All kinds of hardcover fiction and non-fiction, and an incredible array of children’s books.”

The books offered are in good—and often new—condition, and volunteers have organized the books by category, making the inventory easy to browse. The sale also includes a variety of puzzles for $2 each.

“It’s just about everything,” Watkins said.

Visit the Community Room Thursday, Sept. 17 through Saturday, Sept. 19 during normal library hours to scoop up new books and puzzles. On Saturday, visitors to the book sale can purchase a bag to fill with books for a $9 flat fee.

Friends of the Library members got the first crack at the inventory at a special members-only reception on Tuesday. Membership begins at $25 and signup is available at Seymour’s Book Store, just inside the library doors.
