Before being hired at Love, Moneypenny watched the movie, ‘Say Yes to the Dress,’ sparking her interest in bridal fashion. But she said it wasn’t until she started at the boutique that the spark ignited. “That’s when I really got into it,” she said. “I got to know the store so well managing it, so I definitely knew what I was getting into” buying it. “I knew what the customers wanted and the needs for the store, so I got to make some changes I’ve wanted to make and really help it grow.”
After making subtle changes to the decor, Moneypenny expanded the boutique’s selection by adding new designers, dresses and bridal accessories. She also hosts trunk shows and features different designers, showcases their latest collections and offers discounts during the event. Next month, she’ll host a show for Essence of Australia.
“I just love looking at new designers and trends,” Moneypenny said. “I’ve seen a lot of people put pearls on their veils and pearl accents to their dresses, which is pretty cool.”
But Moneypenny opts for simplicity and enjoys a classic, timeless look. “Satin, crepe and silk fabrics,” she said. “Paired with a simple veil and minimal jewelry.”
Regardless of fabric or embroidery, Moneypenny’s mission is for every bride to have a stress-free experience while shopping, and for them to enjoy their time at the boutique.
“Sometimes wedding planning can be a little stressful, so we try to create a very homey, and relaxed experience,” she said. “We have some of the nicest brides. I love working with them and meeting their families and friends. It really is the best part of the job.”
