Real estate broker associate and founder of Marsh Creek Home Sales, Peggy Gachet, recently hosted a concert in the park fundraiser Sept. 23 to benefit S.A.F.E. Pet Rescue, a 501c3 nonprofit organization.

The event featured an evening with local musician Dan Mantini, along with an opportunity for attendees to listen to outdoor music with requests for donations to benefit the nonprofit organization.

Gachet and her team of real estate professionals, including Janice Long and Alise Sheppard are dedicated to philanthropy in St. Johns County and recently organized the event that began as a concert series that allowed attendees to practice social distancing and bring snacks, drinks, and chairs and be social, yet safe during the pandemic.

During the recent concert, a jar for donations was passed around to benefit the pet rescue along with a raffle for pet themed baskets that contained wine, chocolates, restaurant and pet store gift cards and pet camp gift certificates.

The event was also a special day for Mantini, as he is a supporter of the pet rescue, and he adopted his dog from the nonprofit.

According to Gachet, more than $1,000 was raised at the event for S.A.F.E. to support the organization and the rising expenses in the shelters at full capacity.

Gachet added that the funds raised will also help transport pets to the Northeast U.S. for adoptions, pet food, flea control and heartworm prevention medicine.

S.A.F.E. was founded in September 2008 with the goal of saving adoptable dogs and cats from euthanasia in Northeast Florida.

The rescue’s facilities are located at 1250 State Road A1A in St. Augustine and 6101 A1A South in St. Augustine Beach.

All adoptable pets are spayed, neutered and vaccinated. Cats are feline leukemia virus/feline immunodeficiency virus negative, and dogs are tested for heartworm.

Adoption fees help to cover the nonprofit’s expenses with puppies from eight weeks to six months, including designer and pure breeds and small breed adult dogs.

All-American mixed breeds from six months to seven year and eight years or older are also adoptable, as well as cats and kittens.

Gachet has fostered and adopted pets from S.A.F.E. for many years and is working with the nonprofit to encourage responsible pet ownership.
