Forty military mothers-to-be were treated to a special Mother’s Day baby shower Sunday, as THE PLAYERS and Birdies for the Brave joined forces with Operation Shower to show their support for the families of our service men and women.

Held at the Birdies for the Brave Patriots’ Outpost – located adjacent to the No. 16 tee at TPC Sawgrass – this year’s baby shower was hosted by Tabitha Furyk. wife of PGA TOUR player Jim Furyk, and featured a “Super Mom!” theme. Mothers-to-be who are active service members or whose spouses are deployed members of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army and U.S. Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville received Operation Shower’s signature Showers-In-A-Box – gifts of high-quality products for both moms and babies. In addition to THE PLAYERS and Birdies for the Brave, sponsors included Chicco, the Jim & Tabitha Furyk Foundation and Small Moments.

Special guests at the shower included Matt Rapp, executive director of THE PLAYERS Championship; LeAnn Morrissey, founder of Operation Shower; and Naval Air Station Jacksonville Commanding Officer Captain Howard Wanamaker and his wife Teri.

Sunday’s event was the 35th shower hosted by the PGA Tour through its Birdies for the Brave military outreach initiative in partnership with Operation Shower.
