Port in the Storm Homeless Youth Shelter held its second annual Swing Into Action mini-golf tournament sponsored by Coldwell Banker Premier Properties, Schmidt Realty.

On March 8, 144 golfers enjoyed a picture-perfect day as they played in a real golf tournament style event at Fiesta Falls Mini Golf in St. Augustine. The emcee for the day was Ed Dwyer of the Florida Small Business Development Center, a St. Francis House board member, who got the golfers started and assisted in giving away the trophies and prizes.

Prizes were awarded for round one champion, round two champion, grand champion, best-dressed teams, most team spirit and highest score.

The first-round champion was Richard O’Rourke’s team, HW Roofing, and the second-round champions were Scott Beavers’ team from the St. John’s County Sheriff’s Office.

In a sudden death, one-hole playoff, HW Roofing became the events first grand champion. The grand champion sponsor was Flagler Health+
and Beaver Toyota was the trophy sponsor.

Judy Dembowski, executive director of Port in the Storm, gave brief remarks and congratulated the winning teams.

Local business sponsored all 18 holes.

Port in the Storm Homeless Youth Center is a program of St. Francis House.  It serves local homeless youth by providing safe shelter, meals, a safe and caring environment with the structure and stability necessary to build a positive future and comprehensive life-skill programs to prepare youth for adulthood.
