“Mission Pawsible” pet calendar release set for Nov. 19 Pin Up Paws party

The 2021 Pin Up Paws (PUP) pet calendar will be unveiled at the St. Augustine Humane Society annual fundraising event on Nov. 19.

The benefit will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Humane Society, 1665 Old Moultrie Road in St. Augustine. All proceeds from tickets sales, recent calendar submissions with pets, along with sponsorships, silent and online auctions, and calendar sales will benefit the programs and services of the St. Augustine Humane Society, the veterinary clinic and current expansion.

The fundraiser also supports the nonprofit’s mission of promoting healthy, lifelong pet ownership and reducing the rate of relinquishment to shelters.

Fundraising activities include a silent and online auction for gift baskets, Columbia Restaurant gift certificates, a Caribbean all-inclusive resort stay and many locally sourced items.

To view online auction items or purchase tickets, go to PUPauction.org.

Fundraiser guests will be offered an evening of desserts by Crème de la Cocoa along with wine and nonalcoholic beverages, a wine pull and musical entertainment. Also, guests will receive a complimentary Pin Up Paws 2021 calendar.

In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to tour the expanded veterinary surgical wing and speak with staff about medical services and new equipment.

Admission is $38 per person. The event planners have taken care to put together an inside and outside event that provides a safe environment with full opportunity for appropriate social distancing.

The PUP party and calendar theme this year is “Mission Pawsible” with winning pet photos in costume. Each pet was fitted with accessories to match the 12 unique personalities.

Hannah, a Great Pyrenees, received 2,400 votes to win first place and was named the 2021 Pin Up Paws calendar cover dog. Her owner is Laurel Tallent. Hannah received a professional photo shoot with photographer Addison Fitzgerald, a $200 Columbia Restaurant gift certificate, two free copies of the 2021 Pin Up Paws calendar, and two free tickets to the PUP Party. Each year, the Humane Society applauds contest winners and debuts the calendar with a PUP Party.

The calendar contest kicked off in June with donors submitting photos of their pets to be featured in the calendar. There was a $5 entry fee per pet to submit the photos, then friends voted for their favorite pets.

Calendars cost $10 each and will be available online, by phone or at the Humane Society starting in November.

Styling and photography sessions for winning calendar pets were donated by award-winning photographer Addison Fitzgerald. Local fine artist and graphic designer Maribel Angel donated her creative talents to designing the spy-themed calendar publication.
